The reason for finishing this thing:
The 496 challenge is where you run the distance on the day, of the day number throughout January. So on January 1st you run 1km, on the 2nd you run 2km and so on. It soon ramps up, and you start running 21km, then 22km, then 23km etc.
The total for January adds up to 496km, thus the name. It’s a beast of a challenge started by Sean Conway around 2020.
This year (2025) I started the challenge from a personal perspective but soon pivoted to running it for charity for my friend and his family James Constable. The reasons why can be seen in the links below.
